UV-Trace High-Performance UVC Sanitisation Drawer
INTRO
UV-Trace is a high-performance UVC sanitisation drawer achieving a certified 30 second D90 germicidal rating — with zero controls, all-metal construction, and integrated Bluetooth device tracking for compliance logging in logistics and healthcare environments.
-
The client required a compact, high-throughput UVC sanitisation solution for handheld scanning devices used in healthcare and logistics environments.
The product needed to achieve a certified D90 germicidal rating within a 30 second cycle — a technically demanding target requiring precise UV-C source placement and reflective geometry.
Operationally, the device had to be entirely passive in use, with no controls, no consumables, and no training requirement.
-
MAKE undertook extensive materials research to identify reflective substrate combinations capable of achieving uniform UV-C exposure across complex surfaces. The internal drawer geometry was developed iteratively to eliminate shadow zones — ensuring all surfaces of a placed device receive effective germicidal dosage within the cycle window.
UV-Trace activates automatically on drawer closure and deactivates on opening, removing any possibility of operator error or incomplete cycles. All-metal construction was specified to avoid UV-C degradation of polymer components over extended service life, and to allow sterilised devices to be registered via Bluetooth for full chain-of-custody logging.
A copper-plated touch-bar was developed for the drawer handle, providing an antimicrobial contact surface at the point of highest hand contact frequency, reinforcing the infection control proposition beyond the UV-C cycle itself.

Certified 30 second D90 germicidal rating — achieved through geometry and materials research
Zero controls — automatic activation on drawer closure eliminates operator error
All-metal construction for UV-C durability and long service life
Bluetooth device logging for compliance and chain-of-custody tracking
Antimicrobial copper-plated touch-bar at primary hand-contact point
Low-profile form factor for integration into existing workstation infrastructure

UV-Trace achieves a rare combination of clinical performance and operational simplicity. The certified D90 rating in 30 seconds positions it competitively in a sector where cycle time directly impacts workflow throughput.
Engineering out all controls has proven a significant advantage in environments where training compliance cannot be guaranteed.
The product has been validated for both healthcare and high-volume logistics deployment.
