Intelligent Cabinets is an advanced modular storage system for enterprise mobile computers — combining passive thermal management, RFID-compatible construction, and a uniquely engineered fixing-free shelf system in a product refined enough for professional and customer-facing environments.

The client needed a modular cabinet system capable of securely storing and charging a wide range of enterprise mobile computers, without signal interference for RFID-enabled devices.
The system had to minimise power consumption, offer tool-free internal reconfiguration, and present a level of aesthetic refinement appropriate for professional deployment environments.

MAKE developed a comprehensive design system built around a uniquely engineered back panel that allows shelves and accessories to attach and reposition without fixings, creating the visual impression of cantilevered elements floating in space. This system dramatically reduces configuration time and eliminates the need for specialist installation.
Passive cooling was a primary engineering constraint. Open-edge profiles and a perforated back panel promote natural convective airflow through the cabinet, achieving consistent thermal management without fans, motors, or additional power draw. RFID-compatible material selection was applied throughout to avoid signal attenuation.
The design language is deliberately refined, using quality metal forming, considered proportions, and minimal visible fixings to produce a product that reads as premium infrastructure rather than a utilitarian storage unit.
