MAKE FAQs

Collaborative, honest, and straightforward. We're here to guide the process, bring ideas to the table, and keep things moving.

We strive to bring simplicity to the design process, and has built trust with our clients, some of whom have worked with us for over a decade.

We offer a range of solutions designed to meet your needs, whether you're just getting started or scaling something bigger. Everything is tailored towards the bespoke needs of your project.

Our key offerings are: hardware design, DFM, FEA, CGI visualisation, animation, prototyping and manufacture support.

Design focusses on how a product looks, feels and is experienced by the user: form, aesthetics, ergonomics and brand language.

Product engineering focusses on how it works, assembles and holds together in the real world: loads, materials, tolerances and manufacturability.

Most studios specialise in one or the other. At MAKE we do both, which means that your product is developed with aesthetics and practicality considered together from day one, saving time, cost and the frustration of late-stage redesigns.

Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form, via our studio email or just call. We’ll guide you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.

We can work from a description, sketch, CAD model (any format) as a starting point.

Once scope and budget are agreed, we rapidly develop visual designs that excite and will work closely with you providing regular touch points, whether as part of a short stage or full turn-key service.

You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email. We aim to respond quickly, usually within one business day.

We offer flexible pricing based on project type and complexity. After an initial conversation, we’ll provide a transparent quote and scope document, with no hidden costs.

Product design costs vary depending on the scope, complexity and stage of your project.

A focussed piece of work (such as CGI visualisation or an FEA report) might start from a few hundred pounds.

A full product development programme from concept through to manufacture-ready CAD can run to several thousand.

We’re transparent about fees from the outset and happy to scope work in stages so you stay in control of budget.

Get in touch and we’ll give you a straight answer based on your specific needs.

Both. We’ve delivered for major names including Zebra, Honeywell and Waitrose, and we’ve also taken early-stage concepts from an idea or sketch to a manufactured product.

What matters to us is the quality of the problem, not the size of the business.

If you have a genuine product challenge, we’re interested!

Yes. Your idea stays yours. We're happy to sign a mutual confidentiality agreement (NDA) before you share any details or files. Just tick the confidentiality box on our contact form and we'll send the agreement over within 48 hours.

Your files are only seen by the people working on your project. We only show client work as a case study with the client's agreement, once patents and the product launch are in place.

We can work with most common CAD formats and are experienced in translating between software environments, useful if your manufacturer or supply chain uses different tools.

Yes, and we’d argue that this is one of the most valuable things we offer.

Good DFM means your product is designed with its production method in mind from the start, whether that’s injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining or 3D printing.

We flag potential issues early, work with your supply chain or cost constraints, and help you avoid the expensive surprises that come from designing in isolation from production reality.

Of course, we’d be happy to introduce you to our extensive network of trusted suppliers.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a computational method for testing how a product or component responds to real-world forces (stress, pressure, vibration, heat and so on) without physical testing.

If your product needs to demonstrate structural integrity, meet load requirements, or pass certification, FEA gives you confidence before you commit to tooling or manufacture.

It’s particularly valuable for rugged, industrial or safety-critical applications.

We can run FEA as a standalone service or as part of a wider design programme.
